Initiatives focused on overcoming the digital divide acknowledged with 2013 Taiwan Corporate Social Responsibility Award
Taipei, Taiwan—November 19, 2013—CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a provider of innovative media creativity solutions, today announced it was honored with the “2013 Taiwan Corporate Social Responsibility Award” for its long-term commitment to improving the Taiwan community. The Republic of China Manufacturers’ Association, who bestowed the award, commended CyberLink for instilling the concept of social responsibility into its corporate culture through a variety of community-focused programs.
In 2002, CyberLink established the CyberLink Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on providing underprivileged children access to information and communication technologies. CyberLink volunteers make monthly visits to underfunded schools to donate equipment, provide tuition and introduce children to new computing advancements.
“The objective of the CyberLink Education Foundation is not only to facilitate access to technology and reduce the disadvantages faced by many students, but also to draw the community’s attention to the inequalities that exist between socioeconomic groups both in Taiwan and globally,” said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. “Our long-term vision involves extending the reach of the CyberLink Education Foundation to engage with communities worldwide.”
In addition to its efforts in Taiwan schools, for the last seven years the CyberLink Education Foundation has organized a blood donation campaign, rallying companies in the community to participate in an annual charity event. This year, a new company initiative encourages all employees to devote a portion of their work hours to participation in charity programs.
