Cyberlink Announces Support for Intel-Based Mobile Internet Devices and Netbooks

Taipei, TaiwanJune 4, 2009—CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), innovative solutions provider for the connected digital lifestyle, announced its support for Intel-based Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and Netbooks. CyberLink indicated that is has been working with Intel to deliver optimized video codecs for its first generation Intel® Atom™ processor based platforms.

CyberLink's video codecs including H.264, MPEG4, MPEG2, VC1, and WMV-HD are optimized in PowerDVD for full hardware acceleration in Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator 500 (Intel GMA 500), thus relieving the CPU of the decoding process and improving the platform energy efficiency. A number of customers are shipping their platforms with these codecs on their Windows Vista and Windows XP based systems. Support for the upcoming Windows 7 platforms will be available in Q3’09.

"We are delighted to be working with Intel to deliver the best HD viewing experience for those living on-the-go," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "With support for MID and Netbook platforms based on the Intel Atom processor, consumers can now enjoy HD playback with breakthrough performance and energy efficiency wherever they are."

"Intel Atom processor based Mobile Internet Devices and Netbooks represent one of the most exciting opportunities in the market today. These platforms make it possible for consumers to listen to music, watch video, share pictures, and browse the Internet anytime anywhere," said Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in Intel’s ultra mobility group. "The combination of Intel’s low power processors and companion chips, combined with CyberLink’s optimized and hardware accelerated codecs, is making it possible to deliver unprecedented playback experiences in the market today."
